Manhunt intensifies for Cleveland murder suspect as police vow to catch him
Authorities are asking for the public’s help to find an armed and dangerous killer as the manhunt expands for a man who allegedly gunned down an elderly man in Cleveland, Ohio, and uploaded the video to Facebook.
Law enforcement officials identified the suspect as 37-year-old Steve Stephens, and Cleveland police said officers were searching for him.
The authorities are asking the population to be vigilant because the alleged murderer may be in various places. The Cleveland police chief said at a press briefing on Monday, that Stephens is armed and dangerous.
On the video that has circulated on social networks, we see Stephens approaching an elderly man, ask him a question and then shoots him down for no apparent reason.
Stephens said, “Found me somebody I’m going to kill, this guy right here, this old dude,” before stepping out of his car. He approached Goodwin and told him to say a woman’s name. Goodwin tried telling Stephens that he didn’t want any trouble before Stephens shot one round into his head. Stephens then spoke to the woman through the camera saying that it was all because of her.
In a Facebook post, Stephens said, “I lost everything I ever had due to gambling. I do not go into details but I’m a (sic) my breaking point I’m really on some murder shit. … FB you have 4 minutes to tell me why I shouldn’t be on death row!!! I’m dead serious. #teamdeathrow.”
The police issued the victim’s name in the evening on Sunday. This is Robert Godwin Sr, 74, who was returning home on foot after an Easter meal with his children. The suspect and the victim did not know each other.
