Boston (EON) – Rush Limbaugh is in quite a bit of trouble as he is facing a public outrage over comments he made as he called some of the soldiers in Iraq fighting the Iraq War, phony soldiers.
A caller called into the show and argued that the anti-war groups in Iraq “never talk to real soldiers.” The caller went on to state that “They like to pull these soldiers that come up out of the blue and talk to the media.”
Limbaugh then responded, “The phony soldiers.”
Democrats in Congress have taken serious offense to this as has the general public in the United States as it was a definite shot at the troops over in Iraq. Many are calling for Republicans to condemn the comments made by Limbaugh. An internet-based political veterans group VoteVets.org is launching a television and radio ad to attack the comments of Liimbaugh starting today.
Jon Soltz, chairman of VoteVets.org and an Iraq War vet stated that “Maybe Rush Limbaugh hasn’t heard, but there’s a new sheriff in town — America’s troops and veterans, who are not going to sit idle while he and his ilk demean the service of those who oppose the president’s failed policy in Iraq.”
Democrats are moving at a rapid pace to exploit this PR nightmare Limbaugh now finds himself in. 20 House Democrats have already stepped up to the plate to introduce a resolution urging the House to comemn the comments of Limbaugh calling it “unwarranted slur.”
Forty-seven Senate Democrats have also sent a letter to Clear Channel calling for Limbaugh to “publicly repudiate” his comments.
