Washington (EON) – Republican Representative Ron Paul of Texas has announced that his campaign has raised more than $5 million in the quarter as they continue the push for the White House in his presidential run.
Paul ran as a Libertarian presidential candidate back in 1988 and has not been doing all that well in regards to state and national polls. That is not stopping his supporters one bit though as they continue to push him forward with some impressive donations.
Campaign spokesman Jesse Benton stated that the political base of Paul consists of “old right with a good mixture of tech-minded people.”
When you consider what the top two Republican candidates managed to raise the numbers for Paul are absolutely stunning. Mitt Romney and Fred D. Thompson managed to raise $10 million and $8 million in the same quarter ended on September 30th.
Senator John McCain of Arizona reported funds of $5 million which match that of Paul. Paul’s number is over double what he originally had in first-quarter donations and should boost his campaign with more television ads, and an increased campaign staff.
