Boston (EON) - Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton has reported $27 million in fund-raising in the 3rd quarter for the 2008 presidential primaries beating her biggest rival Barack Obama.
Obama reported yesterday that he had managed to raise $19 million for the primaries as well as another $1 million for the general election. The Clinton campaign held off with the announcement of their numbers until Tuesday allowing Obama to have the spotlight before getting squashed by Clinton.
Clinton and Obama have been going head to head for quite some time now in terms of how much money each has earned with donors and fund-raising. Obama beat out Clinton in the second quarter by a small margin. This is no small margin though as Obama’s original assertion that he would raise more than Clinton has gone flat.
The Clinton campaign reported over 100,000 new donors over the last three months. Clinton campaign manager Patti Solis Doyle stated she had raised “substantially more than any other candidate in the race.”
Doyle stated “This is the moment when you showed that America is ready for change and that you are ready to make history. This is the moment when your dedication defied the skeptics.”
