Greenspan Says Bush Motive For Iraq Was Oil
Washington (EON) – Former Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan has released his new memoir taking a shot at George W. Bush stating “the Iraq war is largely about oil.”
Greenspan was made famous for being a very tight-lipped figure. He is accusing President George W. Bush of abandoning the Republican principles and going on his own agenda for the economy, an agenda which he states has failed.
He wrote in “The Age of Turbulence: Adventures in a New World” that “I’m saddened t hat it is politically inconvenient to acknowledge what everyone knows – the Iraq war is largely about oil.”
This comes 18 months after he left his post which he was at from 1987 to 2006.
US Defense Secretary Robert Gates has already come out to defend Bush stating that Iraq is not about oil. He stated “I know the same allegation was made about the Gulf War in 1991, and i just don’t believe it’s true.”
The memoirs will be released in full today, Monday.
