Washington (EON) – United States President George W. Bush has asked the American people for more time in Iraq.
Bush stated that the war in Iraq has become a war more and more over time. He stated that it may take 5 or 10 years to finish the job in Iraq.
General David Petraeus stated that the strategy to bring in 30,000 extra troops gave a bit of success but not enough success to warrant the extra surge.
Bush stated that those extra 30,000 troops were going to be withdrawn from Iraq bringing the number back down to 90,000 troops by next summer.
Bush stated that he is basing war decisions on “return on success.”
In his speech though which he made he did not talk about any type of exit plan or distinct plan as to how they will win the war in Iraq which was to the displeasement of the American people and especially Democrats.
It appears that the Iraq war is not going to end before Bush leaves office. The speech comes one day before the Iraq progress report is due to Congress and sources are stating that it is not going to be a pretty sight.
