Washington (EON) – Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has stated that he had nothing to do with the anti Fred Thompson website which attacked the newly announced candidate for president of the United States.
Kevin Madden who is a spokesman for the Romney campaign stated that “The site had no direct affiliation to our campaign, and we had no knowledge of its development.”
The website in question is PhoneyFred.org and was made to try and tear down the new presidential candidate Fred Thompson. The site makes fun of the Republican calling him “Playboy Fred” as well as “Moron Fred.”
The site was taken down on Monday after the media picked up on it and was linked to the political consulting firm J. Warren Tompkins who is the top consultant for Romney in the state of S. Carolina.
Romney has tried to distance himself from the site though stating that it had nothing to do with him or his campaign.
Madden claims the site was created by an employee at the company who placed it on a server of the Tompkins firm.
