Washington (EON) – Attorney General Alberto Gonzales admitted on Wednesday that he used confusing language during his testimony.
The confusing language was used when he spoke of national security efforts during his testimony to the Senate. He stated that he wants to now set the record straight and make things more clear and crisp in terms of the understanding of what he said.
He also stated that he wants to clear questions about his credibility. He sent the letter to leaders of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Last week the Senate called for a special counsel to be put in place to look into Gonzales and figure out whether or not he lied during his testimony in 2004. The testimony was in regards to the White House and Justice Department battle over a national security program.
This comes as Bush continues to push Congress to re-work the 1978 law to detect terror plots overseas.
Gonzales wrote in the letter, “I am deeply concerned with suggestions that my testimony was misleading, and am determined to address any such impression.”
