Washington -Â Cindy Sheehan (SHEE’-han) has been arrested for disorderly conduct in Congressman John Conyers’ office at the US Capitol.
The anti-war activist was taken into custody yesterday.
She had spent an hour there imploring the Michigan Democrat to launch impeachment proceedings against President Bush and Vice President Cheney.
Sheehan said Conyers told her there weren’t enough votes for impeachment to move forward. Sheehan later said she would run against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi because the California Democrat has refused even to try.
Forty-5 of Sheehan’s fellow protesters also were arrested. A Capitol Police spokeswoman says the activists could each pay a $50 fine to be released.
