New York- Technology giant Apple is no stranger to headlines. With some of the hottest products on the market, Apple has been in the news left and right, thanks to impressive iPhone sales and the unprecedented success of its App Store. However, the most recent news for the company is not so much the products it is putting out, but the people behind them.
The Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which is sponsored by Apple, starts this week in San Francisco. Many announcements are expected at the WWDC concerning various product updates, such as the latest iPhones updates, which also may include a new version of the popular device that has voice recorder capabilities as well as a scaled down prototype, not only for convenience’s sake but to be sold at a cheaper price point. Other speculation has surrounded possible Macbook updates, though reports suggest that users hoping for that will be left disappointed.
Even with all this technological news, the rumors making the biggest splash are of an entirely different nature. To point, the latest reports suggest that Apple founder Steve Jobs may be making an appearance, which would mean big news for the company.
Jobs stepped down from his role as CEO of the company earlier this year, citing various health issues, including a hormonal imbalance that was making it difficult for him to digest properly. In previous years, Jobs has also battled pancreatic cancer, and in the months before his resignation, he reportedly looked poorly.
It is hard to say exactly what Jobs’ return would mean for Apple, and there is no clear sign that he does intend to make an appearance. The keynote speech is slated to be given by Philip Schiller, one of Apple’s marketing head honchos. What is clear, however, is that an appearance by Jobs would create an instant media firestorm, perhaps even overshadowing the latest upgrades that will be outlined for the public.
As of now, the WWDC is looking to gear up for an impressive week. Between iPhone updates and possible Jobs’ sightings, it is safe to expect big things from Apple this year.
