Hamilton – A few months ago Nvidia acknowledged publicly that several of its processors had a rate of failures above normal due to a problem of packaging.
Although the company initially said that the problem was limited to a few HP coputers, soon we realized that many Dell laptops were also affected.
Recently, an investigation led by Apple concluded that the MacBook Pro laptop processor with the Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT graphics may also be affected. According to the company, laptops possibly affected were manufactured between May 2007 and September 2008 – in other words all its current line of MacBook Pro’s.
For laptops affected the problems can be very different but include video distortion or complete failure. Apple asks all affected owners to take their comput to the nearest Apple stor for a free repair – or if you already paid for repairs, you can contact Apple for a refund.
