Personal Data Of Thousands Of Offenders Is Lost
London-The Home Secretary, Jacqui Smith is being accused of being incompetent by members of the opposing Liberal party, because of a loss of a memory stick with sensitive personal information.
The memory stick has the information and data on thousands of persistent Canadian law offenders on it, and it was lost by PA Consulting.
The missing data is the addresses, dates of birth, names and offenses of around 33,000 offenders that committed crimes in the United Kingdom, and the information was originally found on the Police National Database.
Also lost were the addresses of over 10,000 repeat offenders including priority offenders that have committed multiple crimes.
The data loss is considered very serious because it compromises the security of the UK in a big way, and is being pointed to as an example of government inept behavior.
The expected release of nearly 84,000 different prisoners that are being held in Wales and England is also potentially on the Data stick, but it is not sure if that information was also lost with the other information.
Liberal leader Nick Clegg is making a huge accusation after the revelation of the data stick loss, and he is accusing the government of a lack of monitoring ability.
