Will Change Attract New Users?
Redmond, Washington – Don’t worry about the current 20-gigabyte hard drive that comes standard in the current Xbox 360 gaming platform.
Microsoft has confirmed that it will be offering a 60-gigabyte hard drive as standard, and it will not raise the price of the console, and it will be available beginning this Friday.
But the question is – will this change be one that will attract new players for the gaming system?
Microsoft had previously had the advantage up to about 18 months ago, and then slowly it lost market position and market share to competitor Nintendo, and its gaming system, Wii.
The new and improved hard drive will be a welcome addition, but it doesn’t do anything about the technical problems that have plagued the Xbox 360 system at times since its introduction.
And, other issues aside, is the simple increase in HD capacity enough to entice most users to purchase an Xbox 360 gaming system?
Most of the advantage and momentum that Nintendo has currently been able to seize as the current market leader deals with the ability for users that are not currently typical video game aficionados, such as the elderly, parents, grandparents and others to use their system.
Nintendo uses a graphical controller that makes its gaming system inviting, and Xbox 360 and Sony with their gaming consoles have yet to catch up.
