Exploit Now Open And Spreading On The Internet Swiftly
Toronto- The overall response to Internet Researcher Dan Kaminsky and his quiet report about a huge flaw in many domain systems was muted, and many firms and industries didn’t take it seriously or acted fairly slowly to respond.
Now, the flaw and DNS exploit is public knowledge, and beware to those servers and systems that did heed the early warning.
The flaw was exposed quietly at first to try and prevent a flood of hacker and criminal access to vital and important private and public security information.
The details were carefully being kept close to the vest, shared between high level security companies who were racing to fix their systems.
Until the fateful Internet Post by someone at Matasano Security.
The DNS exploit is now open, and readily available on the Internet for anyone who wishes to find it.
Its not something that should be played around with, but unfortunately it is something that people will try to use to cause havoc and damage servers and companies around the world.
It would not be such an issue if the patch that had been developed over two weeks ago had been widely released, but do to the secrecy surrounding the knowledge of the DNS exploits, many companies and individual servers remain un defended against this new security threat.
