Accuses German Copycat Of Infringement Of Look And Feel
California-The giant Internet company Facebook Inc. is filing suit in a California Federal District court against German competitor Studivz.
Facebook alleges in its complaint that Studivz is purposely infringing on Facebooks intellectual property, copying the look, the feel and the services that Facebook has worked hard to be unique in up to now.
The company that produces Studivz says that the lawsuit from social networking company Facebook is without merit, and that their product is unique and not like Facebook at all.
The lawsuit seems headed for a trial, with Facebook seeking to prevent Studivz from operating in the Internet realm in the current manner it is, and it is also seeking unspecified monetary damages from Studivz.
Studivz has stated that they have not as yet been served with any sort of legal action or court papers and that they maintain that the Facebook allegation is totally without merit.
The Studivz company is a social networking platform began for students in Berlin, Germany.
The name is based on a short slang version of the term Studentenverzeichnis which means literally “Student Directory.â€
Facebook says that because they have copied Facebook in its services, features and content that Facebook has suffered negative impact.
No word of a trial date, or any further developments on this issue as of yet.
