Most Locations Sold Out As Supply Lags Behind Demand
New York City-Less than 9 percent of the retail stores in the USA on Sunday had any phones to sell of the new Apple 3G iPhone, according to ComputerWorld.
This is a drastic result of the Apple Company underestimating the demand and supply is lagging way behind the demand.
Only about 16 of the 188 stores nationwide in the Apple corporate chain had iPhone 3G phones available for sale.
Even some of the most prominent stores and the only one in the entire Apple corporate chain that is open 24 hours a day, New York City didn’t have any of the new phone.
The New York City Store, located on 5th Avenue did not have any of the iPhone at all to sell on Sunday.
None of the 38 stores in California, where Apple Inc. is located, had any iPhones.
This has only gotten worse since last Thursday when 50 percent of the Apple corporate stores reported having the new phone available for sale.
The hardest to find was the higher prices Apple 3G 16 gigabyte phone at $299 dollars, with a total of 3 phones available in any of the 188 stores.
The 8-gigabyte phone was available on Sunday in a total of 10 stores.
