New York - Following the announcement of Toshiba Inc discontinuing their HD DVD system other companies continue to announce their support of the Blu-Ray system. Amazon.com and Universal studios are two of the latest companies that are declaring their support to the Blu Ray protocol.
The match up between the former HD DVD system and Blu – Ray has been over for a couple of days now, but companies still feel the need to declare their support for Blu-Ray type of high definition media.
Just a single day after Toshiba announced their discontinuation of the HD DVD technology there are a lot of companies that seem eager to go on the record with their support for the Sony backed technology. Previously Sony Inc. and Toshiba were locked in a tight race for High Definition DVD dominance.
All that has ceased to be. With the withdrawal by Toshiba, the path for Blu-Ray seems clear. Many consumers have waited to purchase either system, wanting to avoid the embarrassment of having the wrong system when the decision was finally made.
There are a few companies that have not given up on HD DVD as yet. LG inc. said on Wednesday that they would continue for now to manufacture and distribute HD DVD players.
