The long anticipated release of the second movie in the “Twilight” saga happened on Friday and did not disappoint at the box office.
“The Twilight Saga: New Moon” grossed $140.7 million, the third highest opening total ever, only behind “The Dark Knight” and “Spider-Man 3”.
Summit Entertainment distribution president Richie Fay was also stunned by the total saying “Obviously, with the success of “Twilight” itself, sequels being what they are will generate X-number of dollars more, particularly if it’s a satisfying sequel. I dare say in all the office pools, I don’t think anyone had near this top gross.”
“Twilight” which was released a year ago earned $69.6 million in its opening weekend.
In second this weekend was a new sports drama starring Sandra Bullock. “The Blind Side” about the true story of Baltimore Ravens tackle Michael Oher, who was a homeless teen taken in by a wealthy family and enrolled in private school, earned $34.5 million in its opening weekend.
“2012” starring John Cusack, Danny Glover, Woody Harrelson and Thandie Newton took third place this weekend bringing in $26.5 million in its second week.
Earning $12.6 million also debuting this weekend was “Planet 51”, an animated comedy with the voices of Dwayne Johnson, Jessica Biel, Justin Long, Gary Oldman, Seann William Scott, and John Cleese.
Finally, rounding out the top five, just behind “Planet 51”, was Robert Zemeckis’
“A Christmas Carol” starring Jim Carrey which brought in another $12.2 million for a three week total of $79.8 million.
Every now and then there are those movies that have a cult following, with people from all walks of life inspired and entertained by the film. One such movie that has been garnering this attention recently is the film Twilight. This is the second screenplay adaption of the novels by Stephanie Meyer and has created a buzz as a die hard fans flock to theaters across the country to see the second part of the series that started with the first movie last year. What happened was the film sets up a love saga that involves Bella Swan, a vampire that she is having a romantic relationship with and her friend. Last year when the film was released it had one the largest opening day weekends of a non summer films ever and has developed a series of loyal fans around the world.

Jay Leno debuted a new clip from New Moon on his show last night.
In the scene, which had previously only appeared briefly in the trailer, Jacob Black climbs into Bella’s bedroom and the two have a romantic confrontation where Bella touches Jacob’s abs.
The trailer was basically an extended scene of Jacob jumping into Bella’s window, ending with his now-famous line, “Have you ever had a secret you couldn’t tell anyone?”

With Jacob’s help Bella restores an old motorbike and upon putting herself in danger realizes that she can see Edward and the more danger she is in, the more she feels like he is right there with her.
However there is one time that Edward cannot help her, and she finds that she is saved by a pack of very large wolves. Bella must choose the life that she wants to live and who she wants to live it with.

On Monday, November 16, “Twilight: New Moon” star Taylor Lautner will be making an appearance on the show to debut a brand new trailer.
The New Moon trailer will no doubt be filled with plenty of action, suspense and romance, as well as introductions to some new members of the saga.

Twilight New Moon is the second movie in the Twilight series and already causing a lot of talk about both the movie and the stars.
The movie seems to have pulled out all of the stops when it came to the special effects, including the transformations of the wolf pack. And fans around the world are waiting to see the fights between the vampires and the wolf pack.
The biggest transformation that happened during the movie was with Taylor Lautner. The actor has literally grown up during the filming of New Moon. A lot of this is credited with the extra muscle that the actor gained during the movie by eating a very high calorie diet and putting in a great deal of time at the gym. He is now rumored to be dating Taylor Swift. Robert Pattinson is still rumored to be dating Kristen Stewart as well, and the two will be featured in a photo spread in Harper’s Bazaar.
