Just over three months before its release, Warner Bros. is already talking about a sequel to the upcoming “Sherlock Holmes” movie.
The Guy Ritchie directed movie starring Robert Downey Jr. as the title character, Jude Law as his sidekick Dr. Watson and Rachel McAdams as Sherlock’s love interest isn’t due out until Christmas Day but the studio obviously thinks it has a hit on its hands.
The next interesting bit of news surrounding this sequel is that Brad Pitt might be involved along with the potential return of the other stars already in “Sherlock Holmes”.
Pitt has been in discussions with the producers about playing the role of Professor Moriarty, Sherlock’s archenemy, but no deal has been made yet.
We’ll have to wait and see how this all plays out and if “Sherlock Holmes” is well received by viewers.
According to Bloody Disgusting, Iron Man himself is in negotiations to star in a new adaptation of Anne Rice’s “The Vampire Chronicles”.
If all goes well Robert Downey Jr. will play the role of Lestat de Lioncourt, a French nobleman who was made into a vampire in the 18th century.
This is the same character played by Tom Cruise in “Interview with the Vampire” and later by Stuart Townsend in “Queen of the Damned”.
Anne Rice wrote ten books in the chronicles series and there’s no word on which book will be adapted first. Downey Jr. has been extremely busy and will continue to be.
He’s just finished filming “Iron Man 2”, “Sherlock Holmes” and “Oobermind” and will soon begin “Cowboys and Aliens” and “Due Date”.
He will also play Iron Man/Tony Stark in “The Avengers” due out in 2012.
