Grammy winning singer Celine Dion is not pregnant after all. It was reported in August that Dion, who is married to Rene Angelil, was pregnant with the couple’s second child. Dion and Angelil have an eight year old son, Rene-Charles. This Wednesday however it was revealed that Dion was not pregnant after all.
Dion, 41, and Angelil, 67, were married on December 17, 1994. On January 25, 2001 the couple’s first son, Rene-Charles, was born. The couple’s son was conceived through in vitro fertilization in 2000 and in August Dion underwent the in vitro fertilization procedure in a New York clinic. At the time Dion’s representatives confirmed the news that Dion had undergone the procedure and was pregnant. Within a few days however the couple learned that the in vitro process was unsuccessful and did not report Dion’s condition as they desired to keep it private.
The news of the failed implantation was announced Wednesday in the French language newspaper Le Journal de Montreal. Angelil was interviewed by the paper, and confirmed that the in vitro process had failed. Angelil said the couple did not announce the results immediately because they were hopeful another attempt would work. While the couple is disappointed at the results, Angelil told the paper that the couple is grateful for the child they already have and remain determined to have more children.
Kelly Kapowski…errr…Tiffani Theissen, is pregnant with her first baby.
The 35-year-old actress and her hubby, artist and actor Brady Smith, are expecting their little bundle of joy sometime in May, People.com reports.
“We are over the moon!” the couple said in a statement. “It’s something we’ve wanted for a long time and we are thrilled that it’s actually happening.”
Theissen and Smith were wed in July 2005, and the actress is excited about expanding their family and becoming a mother.
“I’ve never done it – it’s going to be a whole new thing,” she said.
Theissen, who is also known for her portrayal of troublemaker Valerie Malone on Beverly Hills, 90210, currently stars on USA’s drama White Collar (which airs on Bravo! here in Canada).
She plays event planner Elizabeth Burke on the show.
Julia Grovenburg, who is 31 years old, is pregnant with two babies that are most likely not twins. Todd and Julia Grovenburg, had been trying to get pregnant for over three years. They refused to try fertility drugs or in-vitro fertilization because they did not want multiples.
At the 11 week ultrasound, the Grovenburgs were shocked when the ultrasound technician pointed out the 2nd fetus. The first fetus, a baby girl, is approximately eleven weeks, and the second fetus, a little boy, is estimated to have a gestational age of nine weeks. Her doctors estimate the 2nd fetus was conceived about two and a half weeks after the first fetus.
Doctors call this condition, superfetation, which is extremely rare. It means conceiving while already pregnant, although it is entirely plausible, it is very rare. In fact the medical community has very little knowledge about it happening in humans. Doctors cannot confirm the condition, until after the babies are born and undergo chromosomal and metabolic testing. Superfetation occurs when a woman experiences more than one fertilization in the same cycle.
Although the babies have different due dates, they will most likely be born at the same time, naturally or via cesarean section.
The main risk to the superfetation condition, is the possibility of the younger baby being born too early. In this particular case, the babies ages are close enough together, it should not pose any major health risks.
Some experts believe there may be many more cases of superfetation that go unnoticed, and are classified as fraternal twins, because they are born at the same time.
Imagine the horror, or wait, imagine perhaps the shock, surprise, and elation experienced when Todd and Julia Grovenburg learned, from Julia’s ultrasound, that she was in fact pregnant again. How can this malady take place? Doctors believe that Julia and Todd at first conceived baby Jilian, then two-and-a-half weeks later, “voila,” another baby was discovered. There is actually a name for this rare occurrence: superfetation, when a mother becomes pregnant while she is already pregnant. However, it’s up to debate as to whether or not there is anything “super” about it. Perhaps instruction ought to be readily in place, and pushed down the throats of America, about the possible pitfalls that can occur from engaging in unremitting sex while pregnant—not really.
According to Dr. Karen Boyle of the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, “When the woman had her ultrasound initially, they saw one sack, one baby developing, and that baby had a certain gestational age; then they noticed a second heartbeat in a child that was much, much younger developmentally.”
Boyle later told ABC that she has only heard of ten cases of superfetation, yet it is premature to presume that this is the case, not until the babies are born whereby proper metabolic and chromosomal tests can be administered. Until then, we wait intently on pins and needles.
Normally, socialite Kim Kardashian is on the receiving end of jealousy and envy, but recently Kim has found herself being the jealous one.
Kim’s sister Kourtney, is expecting her first baby with Scott Disick.
Although Kim has stated she is not ready to become a mother, after shopping for baby clothes for her sister she may have had a change of heart.
She posted “I want a baby!!!!” on her blog, however she also wrote “OK, so maybe not right now, but I can’t wait to be an aunt!.” Even though she denied wanting a baby now, the jealousy was definitely expressed in her statement.
Kourtney has not decided if she wants to find out the gender of the baby, but Kim would really like her to. Kim says that she enjoys shopping for baby items but is not very happy about purchasing unisex items.
Although Kim is 28 years old and obviously a little bit envious of her sister, she has decided that she would like a family at some point in her life, but is not ready yet.
Meanwhile she remains one of the main people in the spotlight and is enjoying her life.
Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar expecting baby number 19
The Duggar family are expecting their 19th child. Michelle Duggar who is 42 and Jim Bob who is 44 are thrilled to be having another child. Their new baby is due on March 18, 2010. The Duggars have their own reality TV show that is on TLC.
The show was originally called 17 and counting, but was changed to 18 and counting after the last baby was born. The family lives in a home that is over 7,000 square feet.
Their older children help raise the younger children in a buddy system.
The Duggars were married in July of 1984.
Their oldest son who is 21, and his wife are expecting a baby girl in October. Their youngest child is just 8 months old.
The Duggars have stated that they believe nature and God will control how many children they have.
Michelle Duggar does not get any kind of prenatal testing, and feels God will give them what they can handle. She does not worry about health risks due to her increased age.
The Duggar’s earn their living from commercial properties they own. Jim Bob is a former state legislator for Arkansas.
The Duggar’s claim to be debt free and are able to support their family on an income of $2000 a month.
All the children are home schooled.
Kourtney Kardashian, born April 18, 1979 is perhaps best known for her role on the reality show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” She was born in Los Angeles and is the eldest child of Robert Kardashian, who was best known for being O.J. Simpsons lawyer during his murder trial. After graduating a catholic all girls’ high school in California she moved to Dallas to attend Southern Methodist University for two years before transferring to the University of Arizona and graduating with a degree in Theatre Arts.
Kourtney Kardashian is part owner along with her sisters, Kim and Khloe of two DASH stores, one in Miami and one in Calabasas. It was announced in April 2009that Kourtney and sister Khloe will be staring in a spin off the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” that will show the girls moving to Miami to open the DASH store there.
While there is no doubt Koutney has been very busy lately she has confirmed that yes, the rumors are true and she is pregnant and due “around Christmas time.” The 20-year-old reality star of “Keeping up with the Kardashians” told PEOPLE magazine that she was shocked to discover she was pregnant. The father, Scott Disick, who Kourtney broke up with in January 2009, is the father and will most likely end up on”Keeping up with the Kardashians” frequently. The reality star seems to not be trying to hide the pregnancy from the public.
Kourtney’s Having A Baby!
The latest news is that celebrity glam girl Kourtney Kardashian is expecting a baby! She is said to be due to give birth to her first child around Christmas time of this year. Kardashian says she was in the Everglades when she began feeling ill and if something “just wasn’t right.” After taking numerous tests she was shocked to see the positive results. Her doctor confirmed that she will be blessed with an extra Christmas gift this December.
There’s no word on who the expecting father is, but rumors say it could be her on-again off-again boyfriend Scott Disick. The couple split earlier this year, but have been sighted together on several occasions since then. Kourtney is keeping her lips sealed so far as to who is the father of her child.
Word has it soon-to-be grandma Kris Kardashian is ecstatic about the upcoming new addition to the family. Most likely this little bundle of joy will rule the house and keep all Kardashians on their toes. The debut of Kourtneys new spin-off airs this Sunday. She will be starring with her sister Khloe Kardashian in “Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami.” The pregnancy will be added into the show since Kardashian has now gone public with the news, but there’s no word on if and when the father of the baby will be revealed on the show, or at all for that matter.
