Michael Jackson, who died of an overdose of propofol last June, was last seen alive by his personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray. According to media reports, Monday, Murray will be prosecuted in the coming weeks as the key suspect responsible for the singer’s death.
Detectives working on the Jackson case wrapped up the investigation last month, and the official document will be presented to the Los Angeles district attorney.
A source revealed that the investigation was very thorough and is now complete, providing sufficient evidence to prosecute Dr. Murray.
The case is complicated, because the doctor broke no laws by administering the drug to Jackson. However, he may still be charged with involuntary manslaughter, due to negligence.
Conrad Murray continued to treat patients following Jackson’s death, since no charges were pressed against him immediately following the incident.
Last November, it was reported that authorities were waiting until 2010 to make a decision on Murray’s arrest. Los Angeles Police Commander Patrick Gannon stated, “A decision (on whether to prosecute) will be made in 2010. It is not going to be made this year.”
Dr. Conrad Murray is poised to be indicted by prosecutors in the Michael Jackson trial in regards to the singer’s homicide. Anonymous sources are stating that Murray is set to face criminal charges for manslaughter after their findings are presented to the Los Angeles District Attorney within the next few weeks.
Murray has hired J. Michael Flanagan, who defended Britney Spears for her own hit and run case in 2007. Flanagan says he has experience in cases involving Propofol, the drug alleged to be administered to Jackson right before he died. He won a manslaughter acquittal for a nurse who was tried in the only other Los Angeles criminal case involving Propofol.
Additional sources have told newspapers such as The Los Angeles Times that Murray will most likely face involuntary manslaughter charges and The Associated Press is also reporting that prosecutors plan to seek an indictment against Murray for involuntary manslaughter.
Sometimes there are those great moments in entertainment that have been captured on film that need to be preserved for future generations to appreciate what has contributed to modern day culture.
Who can forget the effect that Elvis Presley on television had on the country at the time as his moves were captured for future generations to appreciate. Now the late Michael Jackson is rising to the same iconic status as Elvis with his ground breaking video Thriller being added to U.S. Library of Congress National Film Registry. This just one of 25 classic films, documentaries and student films that has had a major influence on American culture. Some of the other films chosen to go into the registry along side Thriller includes: Little Nemo, Jezebel, The Muppet Movie, Dog Day Afternoon and Once Upon a Time in the West just to name a few.
What this shows is that Michael Jackson and his work are being placed in the same light as many of the classic forms of art that have defined generations.
It is a true testament to the groundbreaking cinematography and the use of the music video that helped make Michael Jackson the King of Pop, which is why his videos will always be remembered as classics.
Legal Battles For Jackson Family
It was recently revealed that Michael Jackson’s funeral cost approximately $1 million dollars. The biggest hit was for Jackson’s final resting place, which was $855,730. In addition to that, his burial garments cost $35 thousand and photo to be framed $3700. The restaurant for the wake cost $21.5 thousand.
It didn’t take long for Katherine Jackson to announce that she was ending her battle with the executors in Michael Jackson’s will. She claimed she wanted to start making more money for the estate, and that she was done wasting money on legal battles.
Michael’s father, Joe Jackson, is not yet through with his legal battles. He recently took action to claim something from the estate after finding out he’d been written out of the will, but Judge Mitchell Beckloff honored Michael Jackson’s wishes and determined that Joe Jackson didn’t deserve anything. Joe Jackson will return to court on December 10th to fight for an allowance from the estate.
The Jackson family has suffered a lot of misery since the death of their son, Michael. Legal battles, accusations, and sorrow have all become a part of their lives. Whether they win their battles or not, money won’t bring back their son.
Another rendition of the classic Christmas movie “A Christmas Carol” got the holiday box office season started this weekend.
The film based on the story written by Charles Dickens is shot using performance-capture technology and had Canada’s own Jim Carrey playing the characters of Scrooge, from early childhood to adulthood, as well as the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come.
This family favourite brought in $31 million in its opening weekend. Michael Jackson’s concert documentary “This Is It” dropped to second place in its second week adding another $14 million for a total of $57.9 million domestically.
Falling in just behind “This Is It” with $13.3 million was “The Men Who Stare at Goats”; a new comedy starring George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Jeff Bridges and Kevin Spacey.
Debuting in fourth this weekend was the thriller starring Mila Jovovich called “The Fourth Kind” which earned $12.5 million. Finally, rounding out the top five with $8.6 million was “Paranormal Activity”, a supernatural thriller that cost only $15,000 to produce and has now earned close to $100 million since its release on September 25.
Joe Jackson, the father of Michael Jackson, is petitioning the estate of Michael for a monthly stipend. Joe says the only income he has is his $1,700 monthly Social Security check.
Joe claims he relied on his famous and wealthy son for support. He said Michael would give the money to his mother Katherine who would then give it to Joe.
Joe was not mentioned in MJ’s will, he split his estate among his mother, children and various charities.
“He does not have a regular or steady source of income, and he was dependent upon the money provided by his son, Michael Jackson, through his wife, Katherine Jackson, for his support,” the filing stated.
“It was quite surprising to learn of the request,” Howard Weitzman, an attorney for the administrators of Jackson’s estate, said in a statement. “Mr. Jackson’s petition will be considered as are all requests for money from Michael’s estate.”
According to sources, Joe’s itemized monthly expenses included:
$1,200 a month in rent for his Vegas home
$2,500 to eat out
$1,000 on entertainment, gifts and vacations;
$2,000 on air travel
$3,000 on hotels.
Joe may have to cut back on some of that spending since a judge denied his request for an expedited hearing.
We hope the court pays Joe nothing!

Some leaked footage from Michael Jackson’s upcoming film This is It shows a very thin MJ practising his hit “Human Nature.”
The movie features MJ’s rehearsal footage leading up to his O2 Arena concerts which were cancelled due to his untimely death.
Despite previous reports which suggested the King Of Pop looked “wobbly” and “sick,” the nearly 1-minute of leaked footage shows a rather strong and confident Jackson — albeit he does look very skinny.
Michael Jackson’s This is It will hit theatres on 28th for a limited two-week run.
Jackson died in June.

Is Michael Jackson really dead?
Michael Jackson fans were devastated by July, 2009 news reports that the enigmatic pop star had died in a Los Angeles hospital just two months short of his 51st birthday. The death, according to the coroner’s report, was from an overdose of prescription drugs, and there have been reports that Jackson’s physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, might be charged with manslaughter (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/michael-jacksons-doctor-to-be-charged-with-manslaughter.html/).
Events since the announcement of Michael Jackson’s death, however, cast a shadow of doubt over the popular singer’s fate, and prompt some to believe that he might, in fact, be alive and living in seclusion in some undisclosed location.
On August 29, his 51st birthday was celebrated around the world, and his funeral, originally scheduled for that date, has been postponed until September 3. The postponement was reportedly because some family members opposed having it on his birthday (http://www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf/story/jacksons-birthday-burial-ruled-out-by-mother-1114411/). Further doubt is cast on the singer’s death by his doctor’s refusal to sign the death certificate.
For those who might ask why anyone would stage such an elaborate scenario, one has but to look at the magazine industry. Prior to July, this was an industry that was bleeding red ink all over its ledgers. Since the first announcement, the proliferation of news coverage has generated over US $55 million in revenue. Sales of records, CDs and memorabilia have yielded additional millions, and Jackson’s records have seen a resurgence of popularity worldwide.
As to where Michael Jackson might be, one might want to scrutinize the newest addition to Madame Tussauds’ Wax Museum in Hollywood very closely to see if it blinks

Is the King of Pop dead or alive?
A 29 second clip has been posted on YouTube that allegedly shows Michael Jackson walking out of a Los Angeles coroner’s van after being plastered all over the news of his death.
Some theorists/conspiricists believe that Jackson’s death was a stunt and that he is still alive and well.
The video had apparently been filmed in an underground garage, and shows a man, that looks like Michael Jackson, being escorted from the back of a white coroner van by a guard.
The mysterious man appears to have the same hair and build as Jackson, but no point in the film can you see his face.
The person held responsible for posting the clip on the internet on the website Live Leak, states that this footage was given by a “trustworthy source”.
The video description states “This video shows that Michael was still alive after his dead body was transported to the Los Angeles Department of Coroner”.
The van’s license plate number is not clearly visible on the video and there is no sticker with the date to tell when this clip may have been filmed.
One person joked on the website “Yeah, I saw Michael, Elvis and Jimmy Hendrix at the seven eleven the other day.”
Even some of the users on Live Leak, which is known for unbelievable conspiracy theories, give them many doubts.
