When all is said and done, the fact to keep in mind is this “Jay Leno quit the Tonight Show.” He took some time off and then he returned to NBC with a cheap replica of the show he left. If he didn’t want to do the Tonight Show anymore, then why did he quit? The early demise of his most recent show is an indicator that he should have stayed retired.
Conan O’Brien has every right to be upset with both Leno as well as NBC. He earned his position as host of the Tonight Show only to have it stripped away from him within his first seven months. The chairman of NBC Universal Sports Dick Eberson feels that O’Brien is “chicken-hearted” and “stubborn” because O’Brien is standing up for himself. What Eberson fails to see is that the entire situation would never have existed if NBC had handled it with a little tact. O’Brien has not been given the opportunity that he deserves.
Conan put it best when he said, “And I just want to say to the kids out there watching, you can do anything you want in life. Unless Jay Leno wants to do it, too.”

Late night king, Jay Leno is back on television with his new show, The Jay Leno Show.
Leno had some hit stars yesturday on his 1 hour premiere including Jerry Seinfeld, Jay-Z and Rihanna and the one disliked man for the moment, Kanye West.
Leno didn’t hold back any punches when West sat down. Jay asked him straight out “What would your mom have to say about this?” Anyone that had watched the MTV Video Music Award Sunday evening knows exactly what the question pertained to.
West had grabbed the microphone from the country music star Taylor Swift after she had won the best female pop video, “You Belong With Me” , and declared that Beyonce’s video “Single Ladies” should have been the one to win the award.
Kayne responded to Jays question with “ I need to take some time off and just analyze how I’m going to make it through the rest of this life, how I’m going to improve.Because I am a celebrity, and that’s something I have to deal with.” West went on to say “ I immediately knew it this situation that it was wrong and it wasn’t a spectacle, it was actually someones emotions that I stepped on.”
Some audience thought the conversation made the show uncomfortable.
There are mixed emotions with Leno back on the set at a different time frame than his 17 year late night run that didn’t have a lot of competition with other entertainment options.
Leno’s new show is on NBC Monday – Friday at 10 p.m.
