After a great appearance as a guest judge on “American Idol”, Katy Perry is considering a career change from singer/pop star to something a little more judgmental. According to Katy she totally fell in love with her role as a guest judge on “American Idol” and would consider giving up her singing career if she were offered the full time job. Though there was some back and forth with judge Kara she still had a great experience.
Katy has been said to be one of the best guest judges so far. She spoke her mind and had very constructive comments. She has been around music her whole life and not only has a great love for it but a good ear. Katy also has a personality that makes America watch with enthusiasm. She took her role as guest judge very seriously and had a great time doing it.
There have been some speculations as to whether this is just talk or if the singer/pop star is seriously considering the position. We will have to wait and see if Fox is going to take it seriously and go after the pop star to join Kara, Randy, and Ellen as a permanent Judge on “American Idol”.
A more positive start for ‘AI’ in Atlanta recap headlines was hoped for, as American Idol kicked off a new season. The episode was eagerly watched by millions of fans in the Southeast, and across the country. This week the AI auditions opened in Georgia’s capital city of Atlanta, which just happens to be the place where Ryan Seacrest was born.
The judging panel of Simon, Randy and Kara and this time they were joined by a special guest judge, soulful singer Mary J. Blige. More than two dozen of the Atlanta audition hopefuls were given their Golden Ticket to Hollywood but once again there were the Good, the Not So Good, the Really Bad and the Downright Ugly auditions, and some of the less talented contestants nearly overwhelmed the ones that displayed truly amazing vocal abilities.
Former beauty queen Keiah Johnson must have put on her Miss Congeniality crown to keep smiling in the face of Cowell’s snide comments, and she was one of the contestants that made it to Hollywood. Beauty and a great voice, what a combination! Dewone Robinson auditioned but most viewers wish he had just said No and stayed home. Big personality but no sign of any performing talent.
Other stand out performers that are heading for Hollywood include Jermaine Sellers, Vanessa Wolfe and Holly Harden. Harden rocked the house when she came into the audition room with an outfit that made her look as though she were truly a “living guitar”, but the girl can sing. Wolfe is one of the purest country singers since Loretta Lynn. She may forever be remembered as the contestant that is thrilled to ride on an “air O plane” for the very first time.
Simon Cowell announced Monday that this will be his last season as a judge on “American Idol”.
Cowell is leaving the show in order to judge and produce on an American version of “The X Factor”, a hit music show in Britain.
He will begin his new job in the fall of 2011. He said in a press conference for Fox’s Winter Television Critics “Because of that this will be my last season on “American Idol”. I felt like doing something different,” he explained. “I want to leave Idol this year bigger and better than it’s been before.”
The ninth season of “American Idol” has Paula Abdul’s judging spot replaced by funny lady Ellen DeGeneres.
No word on who will replace Simon Cowell next season.
So with Simon and Paula off Idol will they reunite on X-Factor?
Cowell maintains that we’ll have to watch and see what happens, but that, “whatever happens I will be working with Paula [Abdul] in some capacity.”
Simon Cowell is already a very wealthy man given all of the television shows he produces. Simon Cowell likely realizes that American Idol will not be on top of the ratings universe forever. Cowell is rumored to be leaving FOX’s top rated show. He is planning some big projects in the future.
One of these projects happens to be an American version of the game X-Factor. Bringing the X-Factor to American television could give Cowell a new project to focus on as opposed to having to deal with the same mundane issues on American Idol year after year. It is hard to say which network X-Factor would debut on given that Cowell has developed shows for both major networks Fox and CBS. Of course his “Cupid” series on CBS end up being considered a failure by most television critics. Cowell is rumored to be leaving American Idol in 2010. Cowell should at least be glad he won’t have to deal with the same persistent rumors as to whether Paula Abdul will be leaving the show or not from now on. The possibility of having Ellen Degeneres on the show may re-energize Cowell’s love for American Idol and he will want to continue.
Jennifer Hudson will soon play the role of Ms Madikizela-Mandela, who is one of the most celebrated yet controversial figures South Africa has ever seen. She is the ex-wife of Nelson Mandela and was responsible for freeing him from prison on Robben Island after twenty seven years of incarceration. This is one of the reasons for her popularity, even though they were divorced a short four years later.
Ms Madikizela-Mandela, also known as Winnie, has also been linked to a murder. A young activist named Stompie Seipei was thought by some to be an informer for the apartheid government. Many believe this is what led to her kidnap and death. Ms Madikizela-Mandela has denied any involvement, but most believe she played a role. She has also been charged with theft and fraud, which took place in 2003.
Jennifer Hudson will have the challenge of doing such a dynamic character justice on the big screen. Based on her successes to date, it would probably be wise to put your money on her opposed to against her. This could also act as an avenue toward a bigger role in the entertainment world. It’s unlikely she would let such a great opportunity slip away.

Ellen DeGeneres Replaces “Idol” Judge Paula Abdul
And the winner is Ellen DeGeneres, who announced during a taping of her show that airs on Thursday, September 10th, that she will be joining the ever popular Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi. She replaces former “American Idol” judge Paula Abdul, who recently left the show after being unable to come to a financial agreement with the program producers. Her public announcement ends speculation that Paula Abdul may return for the show’s ninth star-struck season.
Admitting that she does not have technical expertise, DeGeneres joked about saving money because now she no longer will need to text in her vote. Her lack of technical knowledge causes dismay for some fans, who respect the very experienced Abdul. Degeneres hopes that her lack of such experience will add some interest to the show, and feels that she will represent more closely the average viewer.
Firm support was expressed for Ellen Degeneres by executive producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz and President of Alternative Entertainment for FOX Mike Darnell. Both are hoping her entertainment experience, along with her love for music will combine with the comedienne’s humorous side to add interest and entertainment to the program. She will continue to host her daytime program.
Paula Abdul has gone from judging to hosting.
After her recent departure from “American Idol”, Abdul has now landed her first gig hosting this year’s “VH1 Divas”. The news was announced by
Abdul herself via her Twitter page. She wrote “Hi guys! im really excited 2 announce ill b hosting this year’s ‘Vh1 Divas’! The show will be live on Sept 17th @ 9 pm EST,” she continued “This year’s VH1 Divas show will honor Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Jordin Sparks, Leona Lewis and Miley Cyrus- I am so excited!!”
“VH1 Divas” started up in 1998 and continues to raise funds for the VH1 Save the Music Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on restoring music programs in public school throughout the U.S.
Since it began the concert has raised over $25 million. Paula Abdul has also been working on “Drop Dead Diva”, a series that will air on Lifetime.
She shot one episode before leaving “American Idol” and the second just after she left.
Her first episode will air on September 13 and the next on October 11.
