Aric Almirola Fractures Vertebra During Crash

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Aric Almirola series driver was discharged from the Kansas University Hospital in the wake of the spectacular crash on the Kansas Speedway, which caused him to fracture a vertebra.

Almirola was chasing Joey Logano and Danica Patrick on Saturday night when they were thrown against the security wall at the entrance to the first corner. Almirola struck Logano’s car in full force, and the force of the impact was such that his racing car was thrown into the air.

The members of the intervention team had to saw the roof of the car of Almirola in order to extirpate it.

He was helicoptered to the hospital, conscious and alert, and the team Richard Petty Motorsports reported that Almirola had suffered a compression fracture in the T5 vertebra. He is to return home to Mooresville, North Carolina, and will be followed by doctors in Charlotte.
