Allen Iverson requested and received permission to leave the Memphis Grizzlies to deal with a personal matter, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.
“I’m not going to get into the personal reason but it has nothing to do with the other stuff,” owner Michael Heisley said. “I’m the guy who said he could go. It’s a real family issue that I don’t think should be reported.”

Word on the street now is that Iverson is considering retirement, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.
Iverson was selected as the number one pick in the 1996 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. He was named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 1996–97 season. Iverson is a ten-time NBA All-Star which includes winning the All-Star MVP award in 2001 and 2005.
