The Rockies were down 8-6 heading into the bottom of the 13th inning but they did not give up. The Rockies had to win 14 out of their last 15 games to get into the playoffs and they did it the most dramatic way possible.

Leading off the bottom of the 13th Kazuo Matsui hit a double to deep right center field. This began the rally and was followed up by another double hit by Troy Tulowitzki.

With him on second and the Rockies trailing 8-7, Matt Holliday stepped up to the plate and hit a huge triple to tie the game 8-8. Then came the game-winning sacrifice fly by Carroll after Todd Helton was intentionally walked.

This put the Rockies in the playoffs for the first time since 1995 as the fans in Colorado were going crazy.

The Rockies now move onto the National League Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies in Philadelphia beginning on Wednesday.
