Montreal – Steroids were found in the body of Chris Benoit, according to toxicology results released Tuesday.
Dr. Kris Sperry, Georgia’s chief medical examiner, said that the elevated testosterone does not link to mental breakdown.
“There’s no reliable scientific data that says elevated levels of testosterone lead to psychotic rage,” Sperry said.
“The only thing we can ascertain is that this level of testosterone indicates that he had been using testosterone at least in some reasonably short period of time before he died,” he said. “It could be an indication he was being treated for testicular insufficiency.”
Xanax (an anti-anxiety drug) and hydrocodone (a painkiller) were also found in his system, reported CNN.
The body of the former wrestler’s wife, Nancy Benoit, also had Xanax, hydrocodone and hydromporphone in its system.
Their young son, Daniel, also had Xanax in his system at the time of his murder.
