Montreal – The death of Chris Benoit has left wrestling fans from Canada and around the world both sad and angry. After the initial news was discovered, most people expressed their sorrow for Chris and his family. However, as the gruesome details become available peoples feelings quickly changed.
Here are what some vistors had to say:
This news really shocked me; moreover my brother who idolized Chris Benoit. However after reading that he was responsible for the death of his son and his wife has made me very angry. He was my little brother’s role model. My brother has not been able to stop crying. I would love to get an explanation as to why he did what he did. Chris Benoit was someone Canadian wrestling fans looked up to. I need answers for my brother. I will pray for the souls of his wife and his son.

I must say that when i frist heard this news, i honestly thought it was a joke. I got online and to my surprise, the news was true. I am 18 and for 18yrs i have watched wrestling, and i have seen Chris Benoit wrestle and win many matches. I dont think that Chirs could do just a thing. If he did this then why didnt he closest friends see that is was not himself. From what i have heard and read about him, he was a great, loving, and caring person. So why didnt someone that “loved†him try to get him some help. I have also heard that he is one that keeps to himself. But still if they knew him like they said they did they would know something was wrong. I just want to know the truth.
I give my love and prays to the Benoit family and frinds.

From everything that the WWE guys were saying about Chris Benoit last night on the tribute show, I don’t see how this man could have done this to his family. I have always liked Benoit, I will not form an opinion of these events until the whole story comes out. My thoughts and prayers are with the whole Benoit family. Take Care and God Bless.

I think this tragedy needs to make the McMahon family quit denying and dodging the steriod/drug/death issues that have plagued WWE for years. Personally, although I think Chris was a hard-working, devoted and excellent wrestler, who makes their kids dress in suits to go to wrestling events with their dad or makes another wrestler do 1000 squats for disrespecting him one night while doing them alongside him and make the guy do an extra 500 the next night (per Raw tribute show). CRAZY!!!! A scenerio of the Elizabeth/Lex Lugar tragedy. WWE is a close-knit family who defends and keeps each other’s secrets just that. Nancy was part of the wrestling scene for many years and married to one other wrestler. No telling what was running through Chris’ head if he indeed was under the influence of steriods. Apparently, that is why police are not saying if steriods/drugs were in the house. To possibly sit there and watch a ppv with your seven year old while his mother is in her office dead and then smother him-UNEXCUSABLE!!! Chris had money and fame-he could have left Nancy if there were problems. Sound like controlling husband/domestic abuse? He had to be in bad shape to kill each member of his family one day at a time and sit in that house with them. Sounds like a batterer/jealousy to me. Many batterers seem so happy go lucky. Nancy and Daniel hope you are with the angels. Chris-rot in hell!! And to his friends at WWE who receved disturbing text messages, the next time you suspect something unusual don’t have one of the head honchos report it to police that next morning. Family or not, get off your duff and do something ASAP!!!!

as sad as it may be another fallen wrestler but never to this extent. this tragedy will shake the wwe to it’s foundation even more then the Owen hart tragedy. I honestly believe that Chris really screwed up and when he realized what he had done he felt no way out of it so he took his own life. Im not condoning what he did because he is a child murderer sorry to say, today children the only people they can trust in this world is there mommy and daddy and in this case poor daniel never had a chance at life because chris never gave him that opportunity. All that can really be said is I hope that god can forgive chris benoit for what he has done he committed a horrible act not to mention against his wife and his child. May you and your family rest in peace. In closing there will be olot of confusion and anger and not to mention tears Chris benoit will have an eternity to take responsibility with what he’s done and eternity is a very long time. Rest in peace

Chris was the greatest pro-wrestler of this generation. He will be greatly missed. But there is joy in Heaven right now for Chris, Nancy and Daniel are there with the Lord God together as a family and Chris is reunited with his best friend Eddie Guerrero. They were all ready. I take comfort with that knowledge even if my heart is breaking right now.

I enjoyed Chris Benoit wrestling. The Wolverine was very entertaining to watch as he matched other wrestlers in the ring. I am deeply saddenned that something like this had to happen to a nice guy and his family. I hope they will always remember him and his buddy, Eddie Guerraro, in the WWE Hall of fame. You will be missed Chris!

I did not know this “wrestler†or his family, my heart really breaks for the innocent lives of his wife and 7YEAR OLD SON that it is assumed at this point he killed. May he rest he peace and the Lord forgive him for taking this family and destroying it. He was such a great guy? So murder yourself but your wife and 7 year old? I do not see this man as an example for our youth or adults for that matter. There’s only one judge here and I pray he is merciful…because murder is a sin. And those who commit it don’t go to heaven ….pull out your bible check it out.
Comment by MaryAnna
I cant believe everyone is saying that he will be missed and loved. This is a man who just killed his wife and a 7 year old son. We should all have turns spitting on him and burn him back to ashes. I pray for both sides of the family.

i thought this comment from the WWE regarding chris benoit was especially distasteful:
“4. The physical findings announced by authorities indicate deliberation, not rage. The wife’s feet and hands were bound and she was asphyxiated, not beaten to death. By the account of the authorities, there were substantial periods of time between the death of the wife and the death of the son, again suggesting deliberate thought, not rage. The presence of a Bible by each is also not an act of rage.”
what this statement has to do with anything other than the terrified attorneys within the organization–terrified that the dirty ugly drug secrets might come out–is beyond me.

Chris, You should have jumped off a cliff instead of killing your son and wife. You were an insane dick.
Comment by Andre — June 27, 2007 @ 8:21 am
Just because someone is a murderer doesn’t mean they won’t be missed. Sure, this is a man that just killed his family (and there is certainly no excuse for that!), but this man was also a human being. I’m sure I’ll go against popular opinion here, but even an act of murder doesn’t make someone a “bad person”! Sure, what he did was HORRIBLE and TRAGIC, but that doesn’t mean he should be “labeled” BAD. I’m sorry, but given the choices of spitting upon his corpse or forgiving him for what he’s done, I’ll choose forgiveness any day!

I’m totally shook.
I have’nt watched wrestling for a long while (it just isn’t the same anymore-it’s “entertainment” more than wrestling.) But Chris always embodied the wrestling aspect of his proffession from his time in ECW WCW and the WWE.
Wrestling is a very demanding grind. Oftentimes wrestlers work nearly year-round with no breaks.
I can’t even beging to imagine what happened inside Chris’s head or what the circumstance was. It’s a horrible tragedy and I extend my deepest condolences to Chris’s family.
This seems to happen alot in wrestling from he Von Erich’s to the Harts to Eddie and now Chris. Is there some way the WWE can prevent these kind of things from happening or are these kind of incidents that happen with wrestlers just random uncontrolable events?

“Roid rage” exists but is seriously over stated especially for someone who has been juicing for years as this guy obviously did.
What can sneak up on a juicer is depression. The entire Von Eric clan died as a result of that insidious side effect.
Many juicers I have met are also on anti-depressants just to be safe.

If Benoit had not taken his own life, then everyone would hate him. Does anyone like O.J…? No! Benoit is a killer. We don’t have to run him in to the ground and hope he rots, but how can you honestly honor him. Stop with the praise already. He was a good entertainer and a person that made a lot of awful mistakes.
Comment by dan — June 27, 2007 @ 8:49 am
I’m sorry but I can’t believe that Chris did this at all. The LEO’s see the steroids and the first thing they think is roid rage and that he did it himself. Has the phones been printed to find out if it was acutally chris’s prints on them that sent the numbers? has anything been done forensics wise to determine if it was 100% Chris that did this and not someone else? I’ll never accept that he did this and that someone got away with murder. I’ve watched Wrestling as long as I can possible remember and I’m almost 40 so I’ve seen all the greats. Chris had the roids for his rehab on his neck, I have them for my back after surgery and I know a lot of others that have had them after neck and back surgeries.
I’m sticking with Chris didn’t have anything to do with this at all as far as taking his family’s life.

im from ireland and am an avid follower of wwe and chris benoit. me and my friends r both shocked and angered by the events that have unfolded. i pray for both sides of the familys. i think it was wrong for wwe to do a special on a man that killed a defensless child and woman, but if ever there was a time for wwe/other wrestling orginisations to stop letting there employees take these steroids etc, it has to be now, for everybody concerned. some people will have on their hands that wont wash off. let woman and child rest in peace.
Comment by dermot o sullivan — June 27, 2007 @ 8:50 am
We should remember that sports figures and movie stars are just people like you and me and they have the same problems we do…..
Pro wrestling should have a strict drug testing program and perhaps Congress will take an even closer look again at the steroid problem that plauges pro sports.
Comment by Stephen Allen — June 27, 2007 @ 8:52 am
We are never to lift anyone up to a pedestal at all. Chris Benoit was placed there by the wrestling organization, himself and his fans. Like Elvis Presley with your life in glass fish bowl for all to see, how can one life right? I wonder if he was to have lived like an ordinary guy, like the rest of us, how would it have gone. This man had issues and they played out in the horrific murders of those that he claimed to love. I pray that those who run this federation and the other wrestlers will take this whole horrible scenario as a lesson to be learned. Little kids should not have a wrestler as their icon. I have struggled for many years with the wrestling federation and the way that they do these shows and the examples that are set for the kids to watch and emulate. NO for me we as adults are to be good role models and the wrestling federation does not set any good examples from the top down. I just pray that no little boy mixed up in his head from all the mixed messages sent out by the wrestling federation and it’s wrestling matches does not try to do something the same to someone whom he loves. Chris Benoit needed to get help while he was alive. Let us learn from this.

Does anyone here think there is even a question that Chris Benoit was a heavy steroid user? I believe the nature of wrestling requires every character to be as big as possible, but, these drugs can kill in many different ways. Do you think steroids are going to lead to more similar tragedies this this? What do you think should be done?
Comment by Dave — June 27, 2007 @ 8:56 am
I saw a documentary this idiot did a while back. It was an hour of “poor me i’m a famous wrestler who made a bunch of money and blew it all and now i want more”. His wife and son, whom he’s allegedly murdered, were in the doc also, and both seemed very sweet and supportive. Fame and fortune can ruin a person, and can apparently smother your wife and child also. Wrestling is fake.

I’m not upset that Chris Benoit has passed on. I did not know him personnaly nor his family. It’s a tragedy 2 innocent people were killed.
What upsets me is that WWE officials knew of double killing / suicide and still went on their TV show to show what a great guy Chris Benoit was. The media reports released the official information the following day, however prowrestling.com had the information that Monday evening before the television presentation went on the air.

And unless his wife has confessed that Jesus is her Lord and saviour her husband

do what he did.I am very angry
and saddened over what he did to his innocent family.

First of all, I am not a fan of professional wrestling, haven’t been since I grew out of that at age 12 years. Having said that, I am as shocked at this tragedy as everyone else. As it stands right now Chris Benoit is alleged to have killed his family and himself. If that turns out to be true, the truth has to be found as to what caused this to happen. If in fact steroids are in any way responsible, then this should be a major, major wake-up call for all athletes of all sports all over this world, in this era and for the future. Performance enhancing drugs (driven by the desire to be rich and famous) are not the answer. The young people of this world that admire and emulate such athletes are doomed to horrible lives and worse deaths. Be smart, leave performance enhancing drugs like anabolic steroids, HGH, and testosterone alone. The horrible effects of these drugs remains sports’ dirty little secret. If it takes the death of a popular athlete to shed the light of day on this problem, then maybe, just maybe Mr. Benoit and his family did not die in vain. Our favorite athletes and the youth that see them as role models, need to know that we don’t want them messing with any kind of drugs, period. The cost of just one human life is too high of a price to pay for fame and fortune.
Comment by bill — June 27, 2007 @ 9:05 am
OJ was a nice guy in public, too. You can’t be fooled by what you see in one’s public life.
Why is it that the world can see the obvious steriods use, but organizations such as the WWE, MLB, and other pro sports are so dumb to it? Yeah, it’s not that they don’t know, it’s that they don’t want you to know their dirty little secrets. That’s why they go to extreme lengths to deny such use or knowledge of use.
First, the WWE is an act. So, no matter what physical condition one is in, they aren’t champions based on merit. Second, they use steroids. We aren’t talking about a few. It’s more like the majority. Third, it doesn’t matter if Benoit was having roid rage. The choice to use steroids is just that – a choice. He decided his fame and fortune were more important than the known risks involved with steroids. Therefore, I do not sympathize nor rationalize his murdering antics. He was a sick and disgusting man, based on his own poor decisions, and unfortunately, innocent people had to pay his price as well. That is the only tragedy.
What is the WWE thinking? Yeah, let’s pay tribute to a murderer who is evil enough to look his son in the eye and then embellish in the kicking and screaming of a child until his last breath of life has ebbed away. Rational people do not honor such criminals.
Comment by Ron — June 27, 2007 @ 9:05 am
I think that this is a very sad sitation – however, I wouldn’t be so quick to say that Chris is in heaven. Murder you can be forgiven for – but not suicide! If he, indeed, took his own life, then his soul is lost foever.
This just goes to show the average person, don’t idolize celebraties – don’t put them on pedestals – they are ordinary people, just like you and I – they just have fame and forture, which most people want, however, it creates a lot of problems within a person when they live in the limelight.
People expect them to be perfect. If you want your child to look up to a role model, let it be you and not some face on a tv screen or on the cover of a magazine.

I have been a fan of wrestling for about 43 years, seen all the greats, put up the ring in my home town when it came there and watch chris carve out a career for himself. I can remember watching his first match as i have tapes of all the greats and what brothers me the most is how easy fans turn their backs on someone when there is really no proof that it was done by him other then how the bodies were found and of course steroids use. It just amazes me how people jump to what come easy to them instead of waiting for all the facts. Now I am a canadian and yes our system screws up alot but as history shows the states have us beat hands down and lets not forget the media’s role in convicting people just to sell papers. My judgement on what has happen will be made when all the facts are in(real facts not media facts)until then my heats goes out the Benoit family and friends.
P.S i know this will not be put on your website as I siad something against the states which only goes to prove that its what sell papers not the real facts. I put in my e-mail if there is any comments
P.S.S have some real good comments on the no win war that is giong on now

Steroids were found in Chris’ home. Physically he has the build(look at the bull neck) of a long time steroid user. We have all heard of ‘roid rage’. Long-term abuse of steropids has disastrous physical and mental ramifications. Witness the extreme results in this case: three lives wasted.
Comment by Ingrid Enquist — June 27, 2007 @ 9:53 am
This is ashame but not unexpected. The continued use of steroids in sports has grown and getting out of hand. Perhaps the owners of the WWE will take this a little more serious now after losing another westler to the use of steroids. The sport may be entertainment, but the drug use is not. Think of who your audience is WWE. You need to set a better example.
Comment by Brian — June 27, 2007 @ 9:53 am
I can’t believe people are actually praising this guy. This is a guy who is selfish, heartless, and cruel. What did his wife and son ever do to him to cause him to want to kill them? Not to mention he kill his wife, then waits for his son to kill him, and then he decides some hours later to take his own life probably after realizing how selfish he is.
I think they should just dump him in the garbage, because that’s where he’s supposed to be.
All I can say is that he is being judge by the highest.

Withholding any judgments right now against Benoit and his family, I would like to say, how could we have gone this far as to idolize an organization which prides itself in creating an image of destruction, anger and power at any cost? Indeed, the pendulum of greed, power-lust and self-gratification has swung so fast and so high that the whole spectrum of society from a 14-year old to a 40-year old revere this type of “entertainment” – it is indeed a reflection of how we have morphed into a beast ourselves, and hence have created these monsters of destruction, which have reared their ugly heads from what we have dubbed as “entertainment” into the realm of real people, with the latest casualties of wife, son, father (who’s next?). I submit that if we are not careful, the very thing that we value right now which are manifestations of greed, destruction, fame, lust for power will eventually destroy the real people in our lives – ourselves, our families, our society. With the Benoit family as being the latest casualty in this saga, may we now stand firm and stop this, starting with ourselves by changing what we currently value, what we watch, what we hold as important. May God have mercy on all of us, and let us revisit our paths, and make them straight, for the powerful God is watching – He is merciful, but He is also just. Let us no longer be fooled by the whims of big money machines, let us pray, let us be vigilant, and let Him (not them) lead the way.

Chris Benoit was a great wrestler gone mad. What the hell is his problem killing his wife and inocent son. I don’t care what he acomplished in the ring all that is over now. The main thing is that he is a killer. I do understand that only God can judge him but man this is trully a trajic story. You see i dont think that people look at the wrestlers because of how big they are they look at them when they are winning a match. Shawn micheals is small but in the ring people love him because he never gives up. If they say that they really love wrestling they should do it to have fun and if they take steroids they are not the people i thought they were i looked up to them and im hurt and saddened by this but i hope that this tradegy will show other wrestlers that they need to stop for there family themselves and fans. I think first thing people have to understand is that wrestling is entertainment not a sport.
The “actors” use steroids to build amazing looking bodies that look good on TV. I don’t believe that any drug testing is done on them (I repeat this is not a sport it is entertainment) just at movie actors don’t get tested.
I beleive that steroids are made available to the “actors”
by the managers/promoters etc.
Wrestlers are recreational drug users as well (no not all but I have run into many looking to buy drugs, because I was in that business for a while).
None of these guys are anything to look up to…they are not rich…they are not educated…the awards they receive are meaningless.
(I repeat this is not a sport, it is a scripted story with
“actors”)
We first need to understand what these people are before we can understand why these things happen.
Personally the majority of the
wrestlers are uneducated (have little or no real work experience), are only as good as their promoter wants them to be(do what he says or you are out, right Effie?, urged to do outrageous things to themselves and others(take steroids, drugs etc), have a very limited number of years that they can work(must take the steroids and drugs just to
keep up with the hectic schedule).
Chris Benoit is a murdering scum bag…just like his manager and the promoters…all of whom will be joining him in hell.

I am not a wrestling fan,I had never heard of this Chris guy until now. BUT some of you fans are PATHETIC! You speak of this man as if you knew him! You knew an ACT! This is SHOWBUSINESS PEOPLE!!I’m sure as an ENTERTAINER..he WAS GREAT! But as a human,as a father he had NO MERCY!I can’t imagine the disappointment in his poor childs eyes when he realized his ICON,his own DAD took his innocent life away. THINK of his son and his wife when you pray! They had NO CHANCE, NO CHOICE… CHRIS DID! Selfish BASTARD!

Who the hell cares that Ben-Wah was a famous wrestler. Now he is a famous killer, which the media will glorify and say steroids were the cause of this. I’m a father and I can’t even imagine choking my son’s life away. I’m glad he killed himself so there wouldn’t be countless months of trials w/ his face plastered all over the newspapers so that you can buy them and boost their sales. He’s another
A-Hole who killed his family, hey if you didn’t like life that much, let your wife and kid leave and hang yourself, I’m sure they wouldnt need anyone to text to make sure you are found. Hopefully Ben-wah is roasting in hell, that’s allot to forgive !!!

Chris Benoit was my favorite wrestler. Like most fans, I never saw it coming but I only saw the character of Chris Benoit, not the real person. I think the hardest part to accept is that murder/suicide didn’t seem to fit who Benoit presented himself as.
Part of the problem is that nobody knew all of Chris Benoit. We can ask questions such as “why didn’t friends or family get help for Chris?” Sadly, we can only know what a person is thinking if they are willing to let us. Many people on the WWE tribute said that Benoit was a quiet and private person. Even though some of the wrestlers felt they could go to him for help, he, for whatever reason, couldn’t go to them or anyone else.
I am in no way defending what Benoit did to his family or himself. It deeply saddens me, disappoints me, and breaks my heart. We can try to blame it on roid rage, which is horrible but alone probably wouldn’t have produced such catastrophic results. We can blame it on the WWE being irresponsible, which they may well be. They certainly should be looking at the mental health as well as the physical health of their employees. I think it’s more complicated than just these factors.
The real problem is that we live in a culture that is so guarded, isolated, and interior. By interior, I mean we live inside our minds, not sharing our emotions. We are taught to pretend nothing is wrong, to act strong and tough. If we say there is something wrong, we are just “stirring the pot” or we are afraid we will be looked at as weak. Until we really know what is going on in people’s heads and can stop living such isolated, interior lives, we will never be able to stop these kinds of things from happening. For the friends and family of people who cannot open up and talk about feelings, frustrations, concerns, depression, or psychological traumas, it makes it real hard to see what could be coming. Especially, when the person seems to be leading such a perfect life.
That’s just something I’ve been thinking about since this happened. My heart goes out to the family and friends of Daniel, Nancy, and Chris. My deepest condolences.

I am so tired of people calling wresting fans red necks. To me none of this makes sense. There is a piece missing to this puzzle.I am sorry if I received text messages like that from a friend or family member I would not wait over 24 hours to act on them. It is obvious Benoit was trying to get someone to the house for one reason or another. The first message was sent at 3:55?am Sunday morning the last from Nancy’s phone at 5 something Sunday morning. The police should have been sent after the first message was received not over 24 hours later. Ever think maybe if someone called the police after the first message both Chris and his son would be alive. Or even they may have found someone there besides Chris. As I said it is obvious he was trying to get someone to the house for some reason and they should have went sooner.

I have spent the last couple of day watching the news and on the net trying to get all the information I could on what happened to Benoit and his Family. After seeing what actually happen, I have come to the conclusion that no matter how many memories he left, this was a terrible thing he did and got what he had coming to him! BUT, Where was the WWE? Where was His friends and most of all Where was His Family? Why didn’t they see what was going on?
These questions need to be ask. He was on the road for 300 days a yr with the WWE. They couldn’t see something changing in this guy? He work with these guys and he Partied with these guys every day! Now when you work with someone and things start changing in that someone you see the changes.
Their is enough blame to go around here, but I can not forget Chris Benoit is a murderer! No matter how many memories he left us, you can not over look the fact he killed his wife and child.
Now, I have a few questions:
1. Why would he bound is wifes legs and hands in tape before killing her? He didn’t have to do that, he was strong enough to do this without doing this.
2. Why would he both strangle his 7yr old son and smother him by pushing his face into his pillow?
3. Why would he stay in the house with his dead wife and child and on top of that be able to send tex messages and have phone conversations with the WWE and friends with out them knowing something was wrong?
There are many question about this that will be with us forever and more question will be coming up as the yrs pass.
Every time I think of the memories I think of the 7yr old boy that lost his life.
Its a sad day for all wrestling fan.
Comment by Don Riggs — June 27, 2007 @ 2:35 pm
Obviously what he did was inexcusable. That goes without saying. Who knows what was going on in his head at the time… to kill your family over two days and then yourself on the third… what must he have been thinking as he contemplated hanging himself?
The man was a great wrestler and by all accounts a very loving father. He was also apparently a very quiet, reserved and intense person who had recently lost the one person in whome he confided (Eddie Guerrero Jr.). I’m betting from that point onward he bottled just about everything up inside… until he snapped.
To those who hate him: that’s understandable. But to hate people who are either in denile or have legit reasons to withhold judgement is silly and uncalled for. The details will all come out soon. I am curious about the food poisoning report he made over the weekend and its connection to all this. Was it just an excuse? Who knows. When lab results come in I have a feeling things will come a lot clearer and we may be a bit surprised.
RIP

I will not believe Chris Benoit did this. Until I hear his fingerprints are on his wife & child, I utterly refuse to belive he did it.

First of all,I want to say Nancy and Daniel RIP.I’m very sorry to hear about what happened to you.You died way before your times(espec.Daniel)and it reinforces how sad, unfair, and messed up the world is.May you be together-happy and in peace. I find it hard to believe that Chris Benoit,a man that i have admired as a wrestling fan for years could have committed such a heartless act. If Benoit truly did this, and it seems apparent that he did, I will not pass judgement on him.It is not my place to do so,that would be God’s(and only God’s)place.I will say that i think Benoit may have been seriously depressed and may have had a mental breakdown. THat does not justify killing your family or even yourself,in my opinion.I can understand people who suffer from major depression killing themselves to escape the pain and sadness that they feel but i don’t understand killing your own family that you love.Either way,i only know Chris as the wrestling legend and not personally,so i hope that he is alright wherever he is and that there is someway that he could make this right,as unforgivable an act as murder is.I truly wish that this had not happened and i send my prayers to Chris’s other children and to the rest of the family.
Comment by Tyler Johnson — June 27, 2007 @ 5:35 pm
All I can say my prayers are with the families; and the two children who are now left with out a father. No matter what my prayers still go to those families they did not deserve this and they did not see this comming. I believe no one did. We may never know what truly happened; to me things just do not add up about him doing this and they probably won’t. In the back of my mind someone else had to this; but there are going to be questions that will remain unanswered.

I was really shocked when i heard the news about what chris did to his family and still have mixed reactions. I do agree though that there is no exuse for what he did, everything he did was his choice but i am also not saying for him to burn in hell because i know that someone in heaven where eddie, daniel, and nancy are right now will come and judge him and everyoone else which is why i will not judge him so untill then R.I.P benoit and family

Chris Benoit: a hero, a wrestler, a family man, a “KILLER”. What a sad day everyone who knew him, everyone who looked up to him, wwe fans, his family. I am a wrestling fan he was my favrite wrestler but before everyone jumps to a conclusin we should waite till the reasons and facts are all there. And as for saying that he did not desver a tribute for what he has done in wrestling and how good he was is not right and the worst thing vince did was say hewas sorry for that because he was great at what he did! i dont like what he did but we cant change that now so instead of hating him when we don’t know what really happened. so may him nacey and daniel rest in peace.
Comment by april — June 27, 2007 @ 8:18 pm
I am from Calgary, Alberta and I grew up watching Stampede Wrestling with all the Harts, Dynamite Kid (who Chris idolized) and yes, I remember a skinny, quick kid named Chris Benoit. Over the years the wrestling circa has lost many, and I think that this tops them all. I believe that we cannot possibly judge what and why Chris did what he did. He obviously was very “sick” so sick that as a society we can’t even imagine what was going through his head as he tied up his wife and held that pillow on his son. This clearly was not “roid rage” and all we can do is guess. We will never know the truth and should not even try to guess. We all have our memories of who we believe was Chris and we must choose to keep those memories as they are and accept that in the end he was a very troubled man. A man so troubled that he felt it was necessary to end the life of those closest to him in addition to his own. I don’t understand why people who want to commit suicide feel they have to take others with them.
This is bigger than all of us people. You can hate him for what he did, or feel sorry for him for the sickness in his mind that made him do this.
Comment by Sheila G. — June 27, 2007 @ 10:24 pm
Why do some of you keep bringing up Benoit’s skills as an entertainer and wrestler? Or assume that Benoit was somehow framed?
Most fans of professional wrestling are called as MARKS and yours comments show why. This guy is a MURDERER and a SCUMBAG, nothing more.
Carry on, MARKS.

I had all the respect in the world for chris benoit. But after what I had heard what happend I lost all my respect for him. See all the time I’ve known chris benoit he based his carrer and his life off of 1 word RESPECT. He wanted respect from his faimly friends and people he didn’t know. So bassicly everyone. What is kind of odd was I was at the orlando show were chris benoit wrestled live as a part of smackdown. And if you were there or read on wwe.com he got a standing applause and I was one of those people who gave him that applause. Even after he lost to edge with a hardfought battle that he earnd the respect of everyone in the amway arena and I never realized that he was suffuring or in any trouble it looked like he was on the top of the world. And that 2 or 3 weeks later he was going to kill his wife and son. Now I know there is some of you out there that think he dint but I don’t know right now that if he did all the respect that I gave him and all the respect he earnd dies with him. I mean THERE IS NOOOO EXCUSE FOR KILLING A 7 YEAR OLD BOY NOTHING LESS YOUR SON and even if he did steriods or anything like that he should know what he was doing he was knowing what he did when he put a bible next to each one of their bodies. But I mean while kill them I mean thousands of people do steriods and they don’t do this. Chris benoit strived his life on 1 word respect but if this is true there’s only 1 word I will remember by 1 word disgusting
