A disturbing scene took place in Philadelphia, during the first period between the Flyers and Devils of New Jersey on Saturday.
While the players were in the face-off, goalkeeper Michal Neuvirth collapsed on the ice in front of his net.
The poor man remained motionless as the medical staff rushed to the guard. He eventually returned to himself and left the rink on a stretcher to the hospital.
Per GM Ron Hextall, Neuvirth is awake and alert and is being taken to Pennsylvania Hospital for observation. More info to come tomorrow.

A similar scene occurred on October 8, 2010, when Atlanta Thrashers goaltender Ondrej Pavelec had also suddenly collapsed.
Ironically, Neuvirth was in front of the net in the Washington Capitals uniform.
