Attempts To Reach Low Space Earth Orbit Fall Short
Mojave Dessert- The efforts of the new private funded SpaceX plane to reach a low earth Orbit have failed.
The effort on Saturday failed because a two stage Falcon 1 rocket failed to separate properly.
It is the third such launch attempt that has failed for the privately funded space plan project.
Getting to space as a private endeavor has been a huge problem, but one that involves a lot of details that are hugely expensive, as well as in many ways engineering nightmares.
The first flight of the SpaceX Falcon didn’t work in March 2006 because it suffered from a leaky fuel line.
The second attempt made a year later in 2007 after the rocket ship started to reach low space orbit but then had a potentially catastrophic vertical axis stabilization problem.
Each of the attempts has had a cooling effect on investor interest, and in a project such as this space plane having investors that are willing to help out financially is a key issue.
The creator of the SpaceX Space Plane is former Internet mavin Elon Musk.
Musk made his fortune by inventing Paypal, which he later sold to eBay for a tidy profit.
