Contributed Canada Weather Station Has Performed Flawlessly
Montreal- The efforts of Canada scientists and researchers have been flawless in the overall mission of the Mars Phoenix Lander.
According to a leading American research scientist, the contributions of vital Canada scientists, Canadian research and contributions by Canadian aerospace has helped make the mission highly successful.
Peter Smith is one of the lead scientists that heads up the Phoenix Mars Lander project.
He is part of the team that makes crucial decisions, and was part of the process in vetting which experiments and projects were included on the Phoenix Lander project.
“The weather element has worked flawlessly,†said Smith in regard to the Phoenix Lander weather station.
The weather station was build by Canadian Aerospace interests and is a $37 million dollar contribution to the spacecraft, which landed on the Red Planet on May 27th.
Canada is also part of the working group that is discussing different ways for soil and other samples of Mars to be brought back to Earth for further testing and study.
“This is a low cost mission, the contribution and help from Canada sources have been a godsend and worked flawlessly,†said Scientist Smith.
“Without the Weather station that was built and designed by Canada, we could not done all the fantastic testing that we have been able to do so far, with what our budget constrains and requirements are,†said Smith.
“Because of the Canadian Weather station, we have accurate, timely temperature and pressure readings every Martian 24 hour, 48 minute day,†stated Smith.
