Retailer Expects Effort To Yield Huge Success
Seattle, WA- In yet another video broadband marketing effort, Amazon has announced that it is opening a online Internet store that features movies, and TV episodes that users can download and watch, called Amazon Video on Demand.
Customers familiar with Amazon should be pleased with their new venture, it will allow users to begin to access any of 40,000 television programs and movies right after they are ordered, because they are then streamed similar to Cable on Demand programs.
This concept is different from Apple iTunes and the original Amazon video effort, both of which require users to download the program to their hard drives before watching.
“We are creating a new experience that is very simple, an immersive experience that will catch people up in excitement, able to watch a movie with a mouse click,†said Bill Carr.
Bill Carr is the Vice President for Digital Media for Amazon.
Amazon hopes to create a video pipeline, and become an Internet to TV source for consumers.
It has entered into deals with Sony Electronics to feature the Amazon Internet Video Store on the new Sony Bravia HI Definition televisions.
