Next Mission Scheduled For October To Work On Hubble Telescope

Kennedy Space Center, Florida- The latest mission to the International Space Station ended successfully with the return to Earth Saturday of the Space Shuttle Discovery.

Discovery coasted to a gentle stop at 3:15pm after a 14 day mission to the ISS, which resulted in the successful delivery of a large element of the Kibo Japanese laboratory to the Space Station.

The mission also delivered a relief pump to repair the plumbing on the International space station, which had been malfunctioning.

The mission to the ISS space station involved three space walks, which utilized a variety of the Astronauts to activate and install the new labs logistics module.

The next mission of the Space Shuttle is scheduled for October 8th when Shuttle Atlantic is scheduled to perform a servicing mission to the Hubble space telescope.

The Hubble Space telescope is in orbit around the Earth and the Shuttle Atlantis will perform maintenance on the telescope to assist it in performing its mission to peer into the heavens.

The mission in October will help the Hubble telescope continue to perform to full capacity and will allow the Hubble to function for another five years without further maintenance.
