Toronto Mayor Rob Ford Makes Public Weight Loss Promise
Hope for the Hefty
Rob Ford is the mayor of Toronto. He publicly announced a weight loss goal yesterday to lose a hefty 50 pounds by June 18. Many people wonder if his goal is realistic since he only has about 5 months to accomplish this task.
Studies show that weight loss accomplished with a healthy diet and exercise program is the best way to lose pounds and keep them off. Five months gives Ford ample time to do this since it is an average of a 2.2 pound loss each week.
Mr. Ford is calling upon his brother to help him reach his goal. They challenged each other to a weekly weigh-in and will publicly announce the results. Having an accountability partner is an effective way to stay on track while dieting. His desire to become healthier is another reason he may attain his goal and inspire others as well.
