Ontario Science Centre Hosts Canada’s First YouTube Event
Toronto- With a multitude of cameras, a host of enthusiastic young people, and a few organizers, the first YouTube Canada party kicked off last Friday at the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto.
This was the first Canada YouTube event, and had a large enthusiastic group of participants.
The party continued on Saturday, as different online video participants gathered for the first Canada YouTube events.
Party attendees participated in puppet shows, wore different costumes and even sported sparkling Martian ears.
T-shirts were sold, and autographed, and different comedy acts, puppet shows and songs were all on the schedule, and overall it was a festive and eventful atmosphere that greeted participants throughout the day on Friday and Saturday.
The two-day event was based on an idea that was done in New York City, where 777 different online YouTube participants gathered to share ideas and visit in real life in Central Park in Manhattan.
Karen Hager is the associate director of the Ontario Science Centre, and she says that about 150 different YouTube members were on hand for the two-day party at the Ontario Science Centre.
According to Hager it was a successful event that allowed both YouTube users and non-YouTube people to interact and learn about how video and other methods are affecting communication in the world.
