Toronto - While Environment Canada has dropped the windchill warning for the city of Toronto and other parts of the province, that doesn’t mean it’s not cold.

CFRB News in Toronto reports that the forecast high for Monday is -10C and the windchill is expected to hit -18C.

Early Monday Morning, the temperature was at -31C with the windchill.

In addition to the cold, driving conditions turned treacherous in central Ontario yesterday and into Monday morning. At one point seven highways were closed, including the southbound 400 from Aurora Road to King Road.

Here in Toronto, people are advised to dress warmly in order to avoid getting frost bite. Outreach workers have been out in full force in hopes of getting the homeless off the streets and into shelters. The city’s extreme cold weather alert, which opens up an additional 80 emergency shelter spaces in Toronto, remains in effect until further notice.
