Toronto – More than 29-thousand polling stations will open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. for today’s Ontario election.
Here’s what you need in order to vote. If you’re on the voter’s list, you must bring proof of identity, something with your name and signature on it, such as a bank card.
If you are not on the voters list, you’ll need, proof of residence. That would mean bringing something that has your address, name and signature, such as a driver’s license.
If you’re not sure where to vote or have any questions, you can log on to the Elections Ontario website at elections.on.ca or call 1-888-ONT-VOTE.
The election also includes a referendum question about whether to change the political composition of the Ontario Legislature. The choices are between our current system of First Past The Post and an alternative system called Mixed Member Proportional. Information posters will be in all polling stations.
The latest opinion poll for NewsTalk 10-10 and CanWest Global by Ipsos-Reid shows that Progressive Conservative supporters are much more likely to vote than supporters of any of the other parties, 80 percent of Conservatives, 71 percent Liberals, 65 percent of NDP supporters.
