Toronto police remain tight-lipped about two letter bombs sent to Toronto homes in the past two weeks.
A victim’s hands were injured when opening the package sent to the Victoria Park and Lawrence Aves home on Aug. 11.
The second recipient, North York real estate lawyer, Terrence Reiber found another letter bomb in his mailbox of his Elmhurst home in the Sheppard and Yonge area around 3 pm Aug. 19. Reiber contacted police after noticing that the package had a petroleum-type odour.
The Emergency Task Force safely disabled the letter bomb.
“The courier envelopes, each 8 ½ by 11 inches contained an explosive petroleum-based fluid,” said Constable Wendy Drummond.
Drummond says there is no connection between the recipients.
Police are in investigating, in the mean time they’ve issued a pubic safety alert, warning the public to contact police should they be suspicious of any unexpected package.
