Toronto – A 20-year veteran of the Toronto Police Service has been arrested and faces charges related to child pornography.
Halton Regional Police Sergeant Peter Payne says they had received information in April from FBI investigators in Virginia regarding Internet traffic relating to the lewd material.
After an investigation, Payne says they carried out a search warrant on the officer’s home in Burlington on May 1, ”the warrant led the investigators to the seizure of recordable compact discs and three computers,” he told CFRB. “And as a result of the evidence that was seized there was evidence of child pornography images on the computers.”
Police say the seized material also included movie files and Internet searches related to child porn.
Accused is 46-year-old Kevin Gray of Burlington, a 20-year Toronto Police Service veteran, assigned to the Community Response Unit at 51 Division at the time of his arrest. He has been charged with possession of and accessing child pornography and is suspended from duty.
Police say there’s no evidence to suggest Gray was making or distributing the material.
