Canada’s Wonderland Ride Shut Down After U.S. Accident

Toronto – American based theme park company Six Flags has shut down four rides at several parks throughout the U.S. and Canada after a horrific accident at one park in Louisville, Kentucky.
On Thursday, a 13-year-old girls feet were severed at the ankles as she rode the Superman Tower of Power ride.
The ride lifts thrill seekers 177 feet in the air, then drops them 154 feet at nearly 54mph (86kph), according to the Six Flags web site.
It is not currently known at what point of the ride the girl was injured, or what had caused the injury, said six flags spokesperson Wendy Goldberg.
There had been no reports of injuries on the ride before Thursday, she said.
“Millions of people have safely ridden this ride in our parks,” Goldberg said.
Goldberg says the company has shut down similar rides at Kings Island near Cincinnati; Canada’s Wonderland, in Toronto; Kings Dominion in Doswell, Va.; Carowinds, in Charlotte, N.C.; and Great America in Santa Clara, Calif.
