The Sûreté du Québec was alerted at approximately 11:30 this morning for a possible helicopter crash
in the area of Lac Sawin in Saint-Zénon.
Residents of the area notified the Sûreté du Québec that they had heard a helicopter followed by a noise similar to that of a crash.
Police, firefighters and volunteers traveled to the area and raked the ground, including mountain biking. At the Sûreté du Québec, it was explained that the area was covered with mist and fog this morning and a good part of the day.
The Sûreté du Québec and the Armed Forces helicopter were also dispatched to try to locate a possible distress signal.
Throughout the day, the teams tried to get information about what had happened.
Finally, a distress signal with GPS coordinates was received at 1800 hours and at 1930 hours, the helicopter pilot was found safe and sound except for minor injuries.
The latter was taken to the hospital.
For the moment, the exact cause of the crash is not known.
