Ontairo Provincial Police arrested a man after a girl disappeared Saturday night in Rainy River, northwestern Ontario. She was found Sunday morning safe and sound.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is said to have been called on Saturday for a domestic dispute in the Town of Chapple between Rainy River and Fort Frances.
Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect had fled the scene in a vehicle and with a 3-year-old girl.
The OPP issued an Amber alert to find the child. “Officers received information about where the suspect was, made an arrest and found the girl safe and sound,” the OPP said in a statement.
A 37-year-old man, who lives in Brandon, Manitoba, faces seven criminal charges, including three assaults, one strangulation to prevent any resistance, one of mischief, and one of driving with a rate More than 80 mg per 100 mL of blood.
He is also charged with two traffic violations.
The suspect was placed in detention and will appear in court by teleconference on Monday.
