It would seem that the big question this day-and-age is whether or not the newest products will be show cased in, methods of green. With the economies down poor over the last several years it is agreed that going green will help this economy incredibly. However, while most of North America is slowly taking on the challenge of going green, Canada however is not so much. Specifically the cellular carriers in the Canadian Region of North America are almost seemingly intending on not going green.
Recently, Canada, as well as the wrest of the major North America mobile network companies have been ranked based on how environmentally friendly they are. Facts such as having clean technology for networks, equipment, mobile phones and phone recycling where recorded pieces of data in this ranking. It has been discovered that several Canadian phone companies have been given low ranks as far as going green was considered. Companies such as Telus ranked number 5 in Canada, while Rogers Wireless ranked in the number six place, followed by Bell Mobility which ranked in the number seven place.
The fact is that Canadian companies, while not recorded as predominantly going green, are making some sort of an effort despite their ranks. Telus leads in Canada because they’ve published data for the purposes of going green. Telus has also taken a great deal of time measuring their carbon efficiency as well as energy consumption with their buildings.
Sadly though, they still ranked in the fifth position, behind American cellular companies such as AT&T, Nextel, Sprint, and Verison Wireless. The fact is that American companies are publicizing a greater effort to go green. Even Telus(the top Canadian cellular carrier) isn’t giving 100% of the facts about what they’re doing to create a more environmentally friendly cellular economy. So to conclude, Canada is currently not winning in the Cellular feud. However, there maybe more to come on the story very soon.
