It’s been expected, it has been on the rumour mills for months, and now it is finally here! Alongside the release of the next generation iPhone it was also expected that Apple would release a software update for it’s current models. Let me tell you now, they did not disappoint with the iPhone OS version 3.0 software update!
The largest improvements may not seem like big deals at first glance, but they have been on the iPhone users wishlist for some time now. Cut, copy and paste is one of the biggest additions, alongside MMS Capability (Which still does not work on first generation iPhones unfortunately). This is more than made up for however with the landscape keyboard for text messaging and the brand new search functionality, which makes finding that one elusive e-mail a snap.
After checking out the sweet new base functions you may want to take a look at some of the iPhones basic applications. Voice memo’s and improved calender give you iPhone more business utility, your iPhone can now even wirelessly sync notes with your PC. If that was not enough however your iPhone will now automatically log in to WiFi networks you have connected to before and check your stocks and shares wherever you may be!
Entertainment wise the new iPhone v3.0 sortware update gives you the ability to log in to YouTube where ever you are, download films, music and games from Apples iStore and for the music lovers you can now shuffle to the next song with a quick shake of the phone!
One of the biggest bonuses for me however is Internet Tethering. While this is not currently available in America on the AT&T bundle you may find that in other countries you cann suddenly, easily, hook up your laptop to your iPhone for instant 3G internet connection. While this is nothing new on other mobiles it is nice to see it in practice!
The iPhone OS v.3.0 update is a must download, the increased utility and functionality are bonuses. The biggest feature in my opinion though is how much easier it makes the day to day use of the iPhone.
