TSB To Start In Depth Crash Examination
British Columbia- The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is starting its own in depth investigation of the deadly helicopter accident near a B.C. Town.
Four people were killed on Wednesday when their helicopter crashed into the Kitsault river, which is still icy even in August.
The crash occurred about 150 kilometres from Prince Rupert, in B.C.
Little is known at this point regarding the precise reason for the crash, but it is known that the helicopter was chartered by Bravo Venture Group, a BC based mining and Exploration Company.
The weather was good, and it was fair weather throughout the region the day of the crash.
Rescue officials were rushed to the scene; the Hughes MD-500D helicopter had crashed in a very remote area near the village of Alice Arm.
The crash was reported shortly after 8am on Wednesday and several aircraft and rescue personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene.
The rescue crews had to parachute into the scene and wade the racing river to rescue the victims.
The helicopter was upside down, inverted in the river, at the mouth of the inlet, and it was located in the swift party of the water.
