Saskatoon- A man was in a high speed chase, and then struck a Royal Canadian Mounted Police Officer with his car, seriously injuring the police officer.

Kenneth Janzen, 24 years of age from Saskatoon is being charged with attempted murder, kidnapping and resisting arrest by police after he led RCMP officers on a high speed chase on Wednesday.

The incident ended when Janzen allegedly avoided a spike strip, and in doing this struck a  RCMP Mountie with his car and did not stop.

The injured police officer was struck as the vehicle avoided the first spike strip on QE II Highway just to the north of Innisfall

Police finally caught Janzen when his car then hit a second spike strip south of Olds, went out of control and rolled over.

Janzen is alleged to have been trying to strike an additional two officers that had laid the second spike strip, but he lost control and rolled the vehicle.

Two other people riding with Janzen were caught treated for minor cuts and bumps and also remain in police custody.

The other two people have led to the kidnapping charges against Janzen.
