4,000 Kilometre Car Race To End In Calgary Tuesday Afternoon
Manitoba- As the futuristic looking Solar Car entries race along the prairies toward their final destination in Calgary, another North American Solar Car Race prepares for its final sprint leg finish.
Fifteen different solar powered cars are in this year’s race, and there are four vehicles that have been entered from different Canadian Schools.
Teams from the University of Waterloo, Queens University, Red River College in Manitoba, as well as the entry from the University of Calgary have all presented themselves well in this years race, and have represented Canada proudly in the annual road solar car race.
The team from the University of Waterloo is in fourth place overall, and the best placing Canadian team at the close of racing on Monday.
The difference between fourth place and the first place racer is less than 8 hours, so it is possible that the University of Waterloo entry could improve its race position before the end of the race Tuesday afternoon in Calgary.
Environment Canada is forecasting sunny skies for the end of the solar car race, although cloudy skies are always a possibility during this time of year.
The finish line in Calgary is supposed to have possible showers Tuesday afternoon, so the end of the race may be very interesting.
