
Alleges Patent Infringement And Intellectual Property Theft
Ottawa-The Canadian based Wi -Lan company located in Ottawa has announced that it is filing a lawsuit against Motorola and Research In Motion for alleged infringement of Wi Lan Patents and other intellectual property infringement.
Wi-Lan announced on Friday that it is filing suit in Texas charging that Motorola and RIM are using different intellectual property that was originated by Wi- Lan.
The lawsuit alleges specific patent infringement by RIM and Motorola.
In another recent lawsuit initiated by Wi -Lan with Marvel Semiconductor in California is headed for a settlement.
The precise details of the settlement are not being disclosed, but it ends several months of dispute between Marvel Semiconductors and Wi-Lan.
The Wi-Lan lawsuits could take up to 30 months to get disposed of.
The company has been the aggressor in a wave of different lawsuits that claim that other companies have stolen their intellectual property, and are infringing on different ideas and patents that were created by Wi-Lan.
Earlier this year the Wi-Lan company had lost $4.1 million dollars in revenues, and it hopes to reclaim a portion of its lost earnings with the current lawsuits it is pursuing.
