Alberta Man Arrested By RCMP Child Exploitation Unit
Calgary-The parents of a young teen became concerned and notified police because of information that they found on their Childs computer.
After an investigation, a Calgary man, age 51 years old was arrested and taken into custody and charged with Internet luring by the Calgary Integrated Child Exploitation Unit.
The teen and the man appear to have a previous connection, and may have even met in person on a previous occasion. The police are not ruling out whether or not there may be other teens or other people also involved.
The police have chosen to limit the information that they are able to release at this time; they say that releasing any more information would jeopardize their ongoing investigation.
The Calgary police and the RCMP are urging parents to talk to their children about the Internet and the dangers of revealing personal information.
The police are also strongly cautioning parents to be aware of the contacts and interaction that their children have on the Internet.
Police are warning that it is way too common for predatory and unsavory people to gain access to children pretending to be other young people, or to appear as harmless younger people, when in reality they are older and attempting to prey on innocent children.
