New Cosmetic Pesticide Ban Allows Even Tougher Bans By Towns

Evidence is mounting that mothers who observe better nutritional practices may in fact bear more male children, but not all the evidence on the issue is conclusive.

Toronto- Despite the toughness shown in its new ban on Cosmetic garden pesticides the cities and villages of Canada may decide to grow even stricter. In legislation introduced yesterday various lawn and garden cosmetic type pesticides would be banned by 2009.

Premier Dalton McGuinty has stated that municipalities are open to impose even tougher restrictions than the ban that is scheduled to go into effect next spring.

Ontario will thereby have a new ban on many of the garden and law pesticides. According to the new law, golf courses, farms and certain managed forests are exempt, but the rest of the general public will not be allowed to buy or sell these substances after the spring of 2009.

“We will have standards that will provide the baseline for consumers,” said PM McGuinty.

Government officials McGuinty and Environmental Minister John Gerretsen spoke to members of the press to mark Earth Day, and talked about the new legislation. Gerretsen and McGuinty joined together to announce the new proposed legislation introduced, and the new anti pesticide measure has been well regarded and greeted with wide praise.

The proposed pesticide legislation would be the toughest of its kind in North America.
